the lighter side

…in any situation, there is something we can learn, for us to grow as a person.

The Old Town Square

After the Holy Mass at the Infant Jesus of Prague Church, M had to find a parking place for the car. This is challenge which car owners here have to hurdle in the city proper. We (Dad, M, Dy, little C and I) then proceeded to the Old Town Square. Everyone was walking along the cobble-stoned narrow lanes, which seem to be the signature of the Prague Center.

We could not much progress in our walk as there were so many tourists around, “legions” of them, just like us, milling around, taking pictures or just simply ogling at, absorbing and appreciating the quaint, serene atmosphere of ancient buildings which are pleasing to the eye. The crowd would sometimes be moved to the sides by a passing carriage drawn by big, robust horses which carried tourists around the square, with which you have to pay a ridiculous price. In Thailand, it’s the elephant ride.

Heyhaaa..the carriage goes, with some tourists riding

We can appreciate here the architectural beauty of the past with the Gothic Old Town Hall and its Astronomical Clock, the Church of St. Nicholas, and the Church of our Lady Before Tyn – these are the greatest pride of the Old Town Square. The spires of this latter Church are an attraction in itself, they are so beautiful to behold. These and so many others, of similarly magnificent buildings of old, contribute to the name Prague gets as “the City of a Hundred Spires”.

St. Nicholas Church in the background
Too bad, not taken is the full view of the superb spires of St. Nicholas Church (not to be confused with the the other one, near the Infant Jesus of Prague Church), but it’s admirable in itself.

looking around
Look at little C carried by her dad, with her mom and grandpa Ed (I took this shot :) ), at the background is the Old Town Hall. On its left side is the Astronomical Clock, shown in another pic above.
